With the introduction of Home Information Packs (HIPS) in England and Wales, there is a rise in demand for Home Information Packs training. To prepare this pack, the services of Home Inspectors and Domestic Energy Assessors is required. Many organizations are providing training and course material for this job. They provide home inspector certification and DEA accreditations schemes that are required to regulate the assessors and maintain quality in their work.
Since the Government has made the HIPS mandatory for all properties on sale, even the smaller homes with two or one bedroom from December 2007 onwards, Home Information Packs training has become all the more necessary in order to produce more trained professionals in this field.

Some practical measures also have to be provided to reduce energy consumption and emission in order to make the building more energy efficient. During Home Information Packs training, specialized training is provided to produce certified energy assessors. These energy assessors visit the property to access data and prepare the report. Training is provided with specially designed courseware by experts who impart training using the software that is used to prepare reports. The DEA or Home inspectors should be a member of an approved certification and accreditation scheme. A diploma in Domestic Energy Assessment has to be done to qualify for the accreditations.
Full courseware is provided by the organizations conducting this diploma that includes introduction to the business and instructions on how to build your portfolio of evidence for the qualification. After that, specific training modules are added depending on the person's skills that need building up for the full program for Home Information Packs training.
Generally the training program includes: Courseware dealing with construction of houses for creating a sound background for DEA. Hands-on practical training dealing with house construction and survey, energy ratings RDSAP, heatings and controls, practice assessments. Domestic energy assessors are required in large numbers as HIPS have been made compulsory for all kinds of property on sale- big or small.
